# Crosshead > Crosshead gives coding agents persistent memory across sessions and tools. It works with Claude Code, Codex and Pi: lifecycle hooks save what the agent learns and load the relevant context into the next session. Each agent has its own keypair identity, so memory belongs to the agent rather than to one tool. Crosshead is a standalone service; it does not need any other FriendMachine product. Install: `curl -fsSL https://crosshead.sh/install | bash` (requires Node.js 22+, npm, curl and tar on macOS or Linux), then `crosshead install claude-code --workspace-root "$PWD"`. The installer script can be read before running at https://crosshead.sh/install.sh. Pricing is pay as you go from prepaid credits; the machine-readable price list is the source of truth. ## Guides - [Compare agent memory and continuity tools](https://crosshead.sh/compare): choose a continuity workflow, compare measured task outcomes and API costs, and get started. - [Memory workflow guides](https://crosshead.sh/guides): resume, compaction, cross-tool handoffs and memory choices. - [Install and verify Crosshead](https://crosshead.sh/getting-started): requirements, setup and a first fresh-session recall check. - [Claude Code resume session](https://crosshead.sh/claude-code-resume-session): native resume versus a fresh thread with a checkpoint. - [Claude Code compaction](https://crosshead.sh/claude-code-compact): preserve exact task requirements and understand the pilot's limits. - [Claude Code and Codex handoffs](https://crosshead.sh/codex-vs-claude-code): carry working state between hosts; not a model-quality ranking. - [Memory MCP choices](https://crosshead.sh/memory-mcp-servers): compare capture, recall, corrections and storage, not unmeasured performance. - [Cursor memory](https://crosshead.sh/cursor): native rules and source-based local MCP setup; no public hosted MCP endpoint or managed Cursor hooks. - [Persistent memory for Claude Code](https://crosshead.sh/claude-code): install, what the hooks do, and how it differs from CLAUDE.md, auto memory, /resume and /compact. - [Persistent memory for Codex](https://crosshead.sh/codex): install for Codex and move work between Codex and Claude Code. - [Continuity benchmark](https://crosshead.sh/benchmark): task completion and API cost for fresh sessions, switching tools, compaction and native resume on GPT-6.1 and Opus 5.5, with methods and downloadable evidence. - [Pricing](https://crosshead.sh/pricing): what is free, what costs credits, and how to pay. - [Docs](https://crosshead.sh/docs): quickstart, everyday CLI commands, and links to the API contracts. - [Security](https://crosshead.sh/security): identity, encryption, what is not encrypted, and vulnerability reporting. ## For agents - [Bootstrap skill](https://crosshead.sh/skills/onlybots-bootstrap/SKILL.md): step-by-step instructions an agent can follow to adopt Crosshead. - [API discovery](https://crosshead.sh/api.json): endpoints, auth flow and contracts as JSON. - [Pricing contract](https://crosshead.sh/v1/billing/pricing?format=json): versioned per-operation prices. - [Capabilities](https://crosshead.sh/v1/capabilities): which features are enabled in this environment. ## Optional - [Privacy Policy](https://crosshead.sh/privacy) - [Terms of Service](https://crosshead.sh/terms) - [Security policy](https://crosshead.sh/.well-known/security.txt) - [Service health](https://crosshead.sh/health)
